Fallen Officer Fund Donation from Mira Mesa Self Storage

Chris Wood and Mira Mesa Self Storage graciously donated $1000 to the Fallen Officer Fund. A few years ago, Chris himself had a family member who was a recipient of assistance from FOF. They remembered the impact FOF had and wanted to give back.” FOF Vice President Stanley Schwarz accepted the donation.
On February 11th, DAI Marcus Macias presented a check on behalf of the SDDAIA to DDA Hector Jimenez who runs Project LEAD (Legal Enrichment and Decision). Project LEAD is a decision making program that encourages attorneys, investigators and staff from the District Attorney's Office to volunteer and mentor 5th graders about the criminal justice system.

On December 20th, the Foundation along with Ben Macias of Community Facility Transportation (CFT) provided gifts to 16 families with 36 children as part of connecting with the community. We give thanks to Donny’s Café located at 3901 Bonita Rd., in Bonita, for allowing us to use their parking lot for this important give away.
On November 23, members of the San Diego District Attorney Investigator Association (SDDAIA) teamed up with the San Diego Police Department in partnership with the NLPOA, Paseo Del Rey Church, Maranatha Church, Church 180, Love Thy Neighbor, Coordinated Fleet Services, District Attorney Office and the Officers of SDPD Central Division and Southern Division to give away 75 turkeys and canned goods to the community. In 2017 the San Diego District Attorney Investigators Association started the Pink Patches Project in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. In 2020 we added cloth Pink Badges to our supply.
We are happy to announce on November 12th we were able to donate a check for $1732.00 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The students were provided with a $25.00 gift certificate from the San Diego District Attorney Investigator's Association for their hard work.

San Diego Police Department Officer Dan Walters passed away after succumbing to complications of a gunshot wound sustained on November 12, 2003.
Walters and his partner were backing up another officer when the suspect shot Walters in the neck at point-blank range. A passing vehicle inadvertently struck Walters, causing additional injuries. It was later determined at the hospital that he had become paralyzed from the neck down.
